What are creative art inquiring pathways?

Creative arts pathways are creative opportunity for making sense of our lives in the world. During the companioning process, with a qualified therapist, artist and/or spiritual director, a variety of creative arts-forms may be utilised including dialogue, stories, visual art, movement, music, drama and play.
Creative arts pathways provide a safe confidential space to explore into our own experience in an open and creative way constructing pathways to new understanding and navigating life choices.

The value of creative art pathways is becoming more widely recognised in the community across a range of applications from education, mental health, personal development & wellbeing. It offers diverse opportunities for individuals to express themselves and explore their lived experiences in creative ways. As human beings we are all naturally expressive in our own unique way. I have known Lynne Head-Weir very well for over forty years and have been aware of her expertise as an artist for much longer. My own background is as a qualified Social Worker/Counsellor and I worked in the field for over seventeen years. During that time I managed a specialist youth and family counselling service for a period of ten years.  I implemented and encouraged the use of art in therapy throughout my social work and counselling career.

Over the past thirty years I have attended many of Lynne’s excellent art workshops as well as co-presented with her on several of these workshops.  I also attended many one on one art sessions/lessons with Lynne.  I observed first hand that Lynne has a brilliant ability to engage well with participants and to encourage them to experiment and explore in a way that is non-threatening and very supportive.

She is always well prepared and confident in her presentation approach as well as very understanding of individual learning differences and styles.  Lynne has the ability to be flexible and makes changes where appropriate.  I have observed that Lynne’s very positive and uplifting demeanour to make participants feel comfortable and safe (under her guidance) in her presence.

Personally I gained so much from attending Lynne’s workshops and individual sessions.  I felt supported and encouraged and gained a renewed enthusiasm regarding my own progress and growth.  At no time did I feel pressured or pushed; Lynne always worked in a non-directive and respectful way, gently encouraging me to express any concerns or fears through my artwork.
